The corridor will provide a high-speed rail link between the Authority system in Palmdale and the Brightline West system in Victorville, enabling future seamless passenger service between Southern California and Las Vegas and closing a critical gap in California’s intercity passenger rail network. By directly connecting the Authority system to the privately developed Brightline West line, the project will create a new high-capacity corridor that supports regional mobility and economic development in the Antelope and Victor Valleys while offering a fast, reliable, and emission-reducing alternative to automobile and air travel.

The project will consist of a double-track, high-speed rail alignment running generally east–west between Palmdale and Victorville. Preliminary engineering concepts include a dedicated high-speed rail designed for operating speeds up to 180 mph. The alignment will require multiple grade separations, and multi-span structures to cross highways, local roads, and desert washes. It will also provide interface connections to existing and planned facilities at Palmdale Station and Victor Valley Station.

The project is currently undergoing a NEPA Reexamination to update the 2016 FEIS for the rail-only configuration. This process will update technical studies in areas such as biological and cultural resources; identify mitigation measures to avoid or minimize potential impacts to natural resources and communities; and culminate in a federal Record of Decision (ROD). Subsequent milestones will include completion of preliminary engineering, detailed surveying, geotechnical borings, and utility coordination, advancing the project toward future funding, procurement, and final design.
