Consultation Policy and Guidance

Consistent with the governor’s Executive Order B-10-11, as well as the guiding principles for tribal consultation set forth by the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA), the Authority is currently developing its own department-focused tribal consultation policy that will describe the procedures and protocols for tribal participation throughout the high-speed rail project planning process to ensure that tribes have the opportunity to express concerns and provide input, as well as have adequate time for consideration of any input, as project decisions are made.

The Authority welcomes input from tribes regarding the development of its tribal consultation policy. Tribal representatives are encouraged to contact the Authority’s tribal liaison with any comments or suggestions. The Authority intends to provide the draft consultation policy to the tribes and solicit comments from tribal representatives prior to finalizing its consultation plan.
