The Burbank Airport Station site will be located west of Hollywood Way and east of Hollywood Burbank Airport. The refined below-ground station will be adjacent to the future Hollywood Burbank Airport replacement terminal, which will provide an opportunity to directly link these two important transportation hubs. Other nearby transportation connections include two existing train stations (Burbank Airport – North at Burbank Airport – South) and the Hollywood Burbank Airport Regional Intermodal Transportation Center (RITC). The RITC is a three-level, 850,000 square foot facility that serves multiple modes of transportation, including airport public parking, rental cars, regional buses, and bicycles.

The Burbank Airport Station will have both underground and above-ground facilities. Station facilities will include train boarding platforms, a station building (which would house ticketing areas, passenger waiting areas, restrooms, and related facilities), pedestrian improvements, bicycle parking, a transit center for buses and shuttles, pick-up/drop-off facilities for private automobiles and transportation network companies, and parking areas.

The City of Burbank and the Authority are working together to develop a station area plan. This joint effort will guide land use changes and other improvements in the station area to promote economic development, encourage station accessibility, and enhance regional mobility.

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) has issued the Final Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (Final EIR/EIS) for the Burbank to Los Angeles Section of the California High-Speed Rail (HSR) Project. The Final EIR/EIS was made available on Nov 5, 2021 and the Authority’s Board of Directors will hold a two-day meeting on January 19 and January 20, 2022 to consider whether to certify the Final EIR/EIS and approve the Preferred Alternative (the HSR Build Alternative, including the Burbank Station) pursuant to both the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
