Salesforce 中轉中心外部鏈接 (Transit Center) will serve as the Northern terminal for California High-Speed Rail.  The Transit Center is currently open and serves local and regional bus operators on the ground and upper level. It is home to Salesforce Park外部鏈接, a 5.4-acre public park that features a living roof where a curved walking trail lined with benches surrounds grassy lawns, dancing fountains, a children’s play area, and an amphitheater.

The Transit Center was also constructed with two below-grade levels that will include a concourse and platforms for future Caltrain and high-speed rail service.

入口網站外部鏈接, also known as the Downtown Rail Extension project, is a 1.3-mile tunnel that will extend rail service from Caltrain’s San Francisco station at 4th and King Streets to the multimodal Transit Center in the heart of downtown San Francisco. It is a transformational, once-in-a-generation investment and is the second phase of the Transbay Program being delivered by the Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA). Once complete, it will link eleven transit systems and connect passengers throughout the Bay Area and across the state.

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) is a partner in delivering TJPA’s The Portal. In 2022, the Authority’s Board of Directors enviornmentally cleared the station at 4th and King streets to serve as the interim terminal station for high-speed rail service until the completion of The Portal.

The Authority’s Board of Directors certified the Final Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (Final EIR/EIS) and approved the approximately 43-mile project for the San Francisco to San Jose section in August 2022. The certification environmentally cleared Caltrain’s existing San Francisco station at 4th and King Streets as the interim terminal station for high-speed rail service until the completion of The Portal.

Station improvements to accommodate high-speed rail service at Caltrain’s San Francisco station at 4th and King streets include:

  • Modifying existing tracks and platforms
  • Installing a booth for high-speed rail ticketing and support services
  • Adding high-speed rail fare gates

TJPA environmentally cleared The Portal alignment extending rail from Caltrain’s San Francisco Station at 4 and King to Salesforce Transit Center as Phase 2 of the Transbay Program. The Portal is advancing in the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Capital Investment Grants (CIG) Program.

In 2024, the FTA committed $3.4 billion of funding to construct The Portal. This federal funding commitment, together with existing local funds committed and budgeted for the project, brings The Portal to over two-thirds funded.
