San Francisco
The primary location being considered for the high-speed rail station in San Francisco is the Salesforce Transit Center (STC). The center opened to the public in summer 2018.
The STC will serve 11 transportation systems, including high-speed rail. A joint effort between the Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) and the High-Speed Rail Authority has helped guide the design of dedicated high-speed rail platforms at the STC.
Prior to completion of the Salesforce Transit Center and Caltrain Downtown Extension, high-speed rail will stop near the existing Caltrain station at 4th and King in downtown San Francisco.

The primary location being considered for the high-speed rail station in San Francisco is the Salesforce Transit Center (STC), currently under construction near First and Mission Streets. The STC will serve 11 transportation systems, including high-speed rail. A joint effort between the Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) and the High-Speed Rail Authority has helped guide the design of dedicated high-speed rail platforms at the STC.
The Salesforce Transit Center and the Downtown Extension (DTX) projects have been environmentally cleared by the TJPA. Construction of the STC is underway and the TJPA is working on a funding plan for DTX. Once constructed, DTX will provide a tunnel to link the new STC to the existing terminus of the Caltrain commuter rail line at 4th and King Streets. The environmental analysis of the Authority’s San Francisco to San Jose section is also expected to consider a stop at the existing Caltrain station at 4th and King.
