NEWS RELEASE: California High-Speed Rail Applies for Millions in New Federal Funds to Advance Construction Toward Bakersfield
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Today, the California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) applied for new federal funding to expedite important safety improvements along the rail line in the Central Valley. The Authority is applying for $67 million in grant funding for improvements to six current railroad grade crossings in Shafter, California.

NEWS RELEASE: High-Speed Rail Extends Public Comment Period for Palmdale to Burbank Project Section
LOS ANGELES – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) is extending the public review period for the Palmdale to Burbank Draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS) an additional 30 days to Dec. 1, 2022. The draft environmental document for the more than 30-mile segment connecting the Antelope Valley to the San Fernando Valley has been available to the public since Sept. 2, 2022. The Authority provided more than the legally required review period upon its release to allow for more time to review the document. The law requires a minimum of 45 days for public comment.

NEWS RELEASE: High-Speed Rail Completes First Structure in Kings County
KINGS COUNTY, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority), in collaboration with Dragados-Flatiron Joint Venture, today announced the opening of the Jackson Avenue Grade Separation, the first completed high-speed rail structure in Kings County. The new overcrossing is located between State Route 43 and Seventh Avenue, south of the city of Hanford. It is 212 feet long, 35 feet wide and takes traffic over the future high-speed rail tracks.

NEWS RELEASE: High-Speed Rail Board Completes Environmental Clearance in Northern California
SAN JOSE, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) Board of Directors today certified the Final Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (Final EIR/EIS) and approved the approximately 43-mile project for the San Francisco to San Jose section. This action completes the environmental clearance for high-speed rail in Northern California and extends environmental clearance to 420 miles of the project’s 500-mile alignment from San Francisco to Los Angeles/Anaheim.

NEWS RELEASE: California High-Speed Rail Board Approves Design Contracts to Prepare for Construction into Merced and Bakersfield
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) Board of Directors today approved contracts to advance design of the 52.4 total miles that will extend the project into Merced and Bakersfield. The contracts bring the project closer to constructing the final Central Valley packages that will complete the 171-mile high-speed rail electrified segment and ultimately connect to the Bay Area and Los Angeles.

NEWS RELEASE: $25 Million in Federal Funding Awarded to Advance High-Speed Rail in California
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Today, the California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) was notified that it has been awarded $25 million in federal grant funding to advance the project beyond the 119-miles under construction and into downtown Merced. This grant was awarded through the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) discretionary grant program, and $25 million is the maximum grant award.

PHOTO RELEASE: High-Speed Rail Reaches Construction Milestone in Kern County
KERN COUNTY, Calif. – Today, the California High-Speed Rail Authority, in collaboration with design-build contractor California Rail Builders, reached a historic milestone as the final pre-cast girders were placed on Construction Package 4. With this placement, all structures along the 22-mile stretch of high-speed rail between just north of the Tulare/Kern county line and Poplar Avenue south of the city of Wasco are now in construction.
