The future home of high-speed rail in Silicon Valley will be at San Jose Diridon Station.

Diridon Station is poised to become one of the busiest intermodal transit hubs on the West Coast, connecting high-speed rail passengers to existing Caltrain, Altamont Corridor Express, Amtrak Capitol Corridor, Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) service, and future BART service in the heart of Silicon Valley.

NyawangThe Authority’s Board of Directors certified the Final Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (Final EIR/EIS) and approved the approximately 145-mile project for the San Jose to Merced section in April 2022, which includes San Jose Diridon Station.

Updates would include:

  • Modification of two existing platforms to accommodate high-speed rail trains
  • The addition of up to two pedestrian concourses to access the high-speed rail and Caltrain platforms
  • Access improvements around the station

The Authority, kasama ni the Diridon station partners, Caltrain, the City of San Jose, Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), at VTA have been working together to develop a comprehensive plan for the Future of Diridon Station. The partnership is focused on accommodating the expansion of passenger rail service, including high-speed rail, and improving the station’s integration with existing service, at the surrounding neighborhood to support economic and community development.
