Anaheim
The proposed high-speed rail station in Anaheim will be located at the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) near Angels Stadium and the Honda Center. ARTIC is a state-of-the-art station featuring Metrolink, Amtrak, regional buses, and local transit services. Public shuttles provide direct connections to nearby Anaheim Resort area attractions which include the Disneyland Resort and the Anaheim Convention Center.
In November 2018, the Authority’s Board of Directors concurred with the staff recommended State Preferred Alternative for the Los Angeles to Anaheim project section. The State Preferred Alternative is the shared urban rail corridor build option that features two electrified tracks for high-speed rail, Metrolink and Amtrak and keeps a minimum of two mainline tracks for freight movement within the existing corridor. The Draft Environmental Document for this project section is currently being updated.
The City of Anaheim and the Authority are working together to ensure the services at ARTIC serve Anaheim and surrounding communities. This joint effort will guide the improvements associated with high-speed rail to promote economic development, encourage station accessibility, and enhance regional mobility.
The Southern California Optimized Rail Expansion (SCORE) project has goal of being an improved passenger rail corridor that could be electrified and shared with high-speed rail.
